South Korea’s TWICE Scores First Hot 100 Entry With ‘The Feels’

South Korean pop group TWICE hits the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Oct. 16) for the first time, as “The Feels” opens at No. 83.

The song, released via JYP/Imperial/Republic Records, tallied 4.7 million U.S. streams and 208,000 in radio airplay audience and sold 10,400 downloads in its first week of release (ending Oct. 7), according to MRC Data. It also debuts at No. 5 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart.

Among other chart moves for the song, it launches at No. 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. ranking and No. 12 on the Billboard Global 200.

Although TWICE is new to the Hot 100, it has tallied 26 entries on World Digital Song Sales, including 19 top 10s and four No. 1s: “Likey,” in 2017, “Feel Special” (2019), “I Can’t Stop Me” (2020) and “Cry for Me” (this January).

The act’s 19 World Digital Song Sales top 10s place it in a tie with DAY6, GOT7 and SEVENTEEN for the sixth-most in the chart’s history, after BTS (107), EXO (45), BIGBANG (25), B.A.P (22) and SHINee (21).

TWICE has also sent 14 entries onto the World Albums chart, two of which have hit No. 1: Twicetagram in 2017 and Taste of Love: The 10th Mini Album this June. Three of the group’s albums have hit the Billboard 200: More & More: The Ninth Mini Album (No. 200 peak, June 2020); Eyes Wide Open: The 2nd Full Album (No. 72, December 2020); and Taste of Love (No. 6, this June).

The group, which formed in 2015, comprises members Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Mina, Momo, Nayeon, Sana and Tzuyu.

TWICE joins an ever-growing list of K-pop acts to hit the Hot 100. In 2021 alone, it follows BTS, with five entries this year, among 23 career titles, including six No. 1s; Rosé, whose “On the Ground” reached No. 70 in March; and Lisa, whose “Lalisa” peaked at No. 84 in September.
