Black Pumas Song on ‘Grace & Frankie’ Fends Off ‘Sex Education’ on Top TV Songs

Grace & Frankie claims the No. 1 spot on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, for January 2020, thanks to Black Pumas‘ “Colors,” from the Netflix series’ sixth season premiere, while Sex Education nabs six of the survey’s 10 spots.

Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music/MRC Data during the corresponding period.

Black Pumas’ “Colors,” which recently became the Austin, Texas, duo’s first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Songs chart (dated Feb. 15), lands at No. 1 on Top TV Songs after appearing in the first episode of Grace & Frankie‘s sixth season, which premiered Jan. 15.

“Colors” earned 2.5 million streams and sold 5,000 downloads in January.

Meanwhile, Sex Education holds Nos. 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 10 on the chart after the fellow Netflix show’s second season premiered Jan. 17.

Sufjan Stevens‘ “Mystery of Love” leads the way at No. 2, having appeared in the season’s seventh episode. It racked up 7 million streams and sold 1,000 downloads in January. When in Rome‘s “The Promise,” a top 15 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988, places at No. 3 thanks to its sync in the season premiere, with 3 million streams and 4,000 downloads sold.
