Japan’s Lisa Leads Debuts on Billboard Global Charts
Japanese pop/rock singer LiSA notches the highest debut on Billboard's latest global charts.
The Oct. 24-dated Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts sport a combined 24 debuting songs. Atop that haul, LiSA launches “Homura” at No. 21 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 62 on the Billboard Global 200.
The Japanese singer released the single on Oct. 14, two days ahead of the premiere of the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, for which it serves as the theme song.
The song arrived the same day as the release of LiSA’s fifth LP, Leo-Nine. That set includes “Gurenge,” which vaults from No. 143 to No. 85 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and debuts at No. 194 on the Billboard Global 200.
Among other debuts from international artists, Turkish rapper Ezhel makes his first-ever appearance on any Billboard chart with the entrance of “Allah’indan Bul” at No. 139 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. The spiritual-leaning song drew 7.9 million streams outside the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 15, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Plus, Brazilian singer Gusttavo Lima debuts a pair of songs on the Global Excl. U.S. tally: “Café E Amor” at No. 112 and “De Menina Pra Mulher” at No. 150. The songs mark Lima’s first songs to appear on an all-genre Billboard chart, following his debut as an artist on the Emerging Artists (No. 33) and a new high of No. 5 on the Social 50 earlier this year.
