ROSÉ is the center of attention in the dance performance video for her hit “On the Ground,” released Monday (March 22).
The BLACKPINK star is accompanied by background dancers who are all dressed in the same all-black outfit. The performance is rather laid-back and reminiscent of a pre-concert dance rehearsal. At times, the dancers mimic ROSÉ’s dance moves, but primarily yield the spotlight to her.
“On the Ground” is the lead single off of her two-track debut solo project -R-, which dropped March 12. The K-pop singer is just kicking off her solo career, but is already topping the charts with the song debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. ROSÉ is the first artist to hit No. 1 on the latter as a solo artist and with a group.
In addition to her solo endeavor, ROSÉ curated a playlist specifically for International Women’s Day on March 8. Her collection — which she dubbed “ROSÉ: Visionary Women” — included songs by Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, and more.
Besides ROSÉ’S solo endeavors, it’s been a busy 2021 so far for BLACKPINK. The K-pop superstars entertained fans around the world with a dazzling livestream concert titled “The Show” at the end of January, during which ROSÉ offered a little taste of her own project. In February, the quartet was named goodwill ambassadors for November’s U.N. Climate Change Conference. And in March, the group appeared in Adidas’ “Watch Us Move” campaign, which celebrates womanhood.
